Spain New FIFA Champions

Paul, has become a global phenomenon after correctly predicting outcomes of the FIFA matches, predicted that Spain would beat the Netherlands and win the World Cup 2010. The two-year-old octopus, born in England and now living in a German aquarium, correctly predicted the results of the third place match, making it his seventh correct prediction in a row.

After Germany's heartbreaking 1-0 defeat to Spain in the World Cup semi-final, angry German fans are calling to kill Paul, the psychic octopus, who had predicted that Spain would win.

Forlan has had a memorable season for his country at the 2010 World Cup. Forlan’s ability to score from the set pieces made him the most sought-after name in South Africa. Uruguay striker Diego Forlan was awarded the Golden Ball as the World Cup's best player

Luis Fabiano has been a regular starter for Brazil since 2008 and has blossomed as a player with trademark approach and elegance. He grabbed headlines during their match against Ivory Coast where he twice handled the ball for a beautiful one.

David Villa the goal machine helped Spain convert their ability into accomplishment in South Africa. The quick and voracious striker has the knack of scoring whenever he wants with threatening impudence. Spain’s most valuable striker besides Fernando Torres has netted five times this World Cup. Villa got the Silver Boot.

Spain's Iker Casillas won the Golden Glove as the top goalkeeper.

So the prediction of Octopus Paul became true. Spain defeated the overdue Netherlands, 1-0, with a goal by Andrés Iniesta in the 116th minute, that is, four minutes away from the dreaded penalty kicks.

Iniesta was onside when the ball was released and then he pumped it off the fingertips of the diving Dutch keeper. Spain is a team that earned its World Cup victory and brought glory to its nation by playing intelligent and hard and brave soccer. They had to, in order to beat the Dutch. That country lost finals in 1974 and 1978, which is mere history to these final players, who were a match for the Spanish for 116 minutes.
