Adnan Sami gets notice on Mumbai properties by ED

Adnan Sami is fined of Rs 20 lakh for acquiring assets without permission of Reserve Bank of India as he was a Pakistani national.

The properties, located in Oberoi Sky Garden Housing Society in posh Lokhandwala complex in suburban Andheri, were acquired by Sami in 2003 in violation of Foreign Exchange Management.

The flats were confiscated on the grounds that the purchase of all the properties as well as transfer of five flats and three parking slots to Ms. Sabah were illegal and violated the FEMA laws.

Adnan Sami and asked him about his side of the story, he said: "I've been in India for about 12 years now. I am here on a business visa and have even applied for Indian citizenship. I have a PAN card, and I pay taxes to the India government on my earnings.

He has 45 days to appeal in court.
