The Indian rupee is likely to get its own unique symbol. The design of D Uday Kumar is selected by five member of comittee. He is rewarded with Rs 2.5 lakh. Symbol is based on two concepts – Indian Tricolour and Arithmetic.
D Uday Kumar is a professor in Guwahati. IIT Post-Graduate D Uday Kumar entered the history book, as his Rupee design was approved by the panel. The new design reflects Indian ethos and culture, as required by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
The new symbol will be used globally like the Dollar ($) and Pound (£). Symbol contains the Devanagari ‘Ra’ and the Roman capital ‘R’. The main criteria was that it should fit the standard keyboard and be in the national language script.
It would be beneficial for Indian currency as Counterfeit notes being smuggled in Indian market with so perfection that even a banker could make a mistake. These notes are so perfect that they even pass the ultraviolet test and a discerning banker in a hurry wouldn’t spot the difference.
