After the exit of Ashok Chavan over the Adarsh society scam, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Prithviraj Chavan has been chosen to be the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
64-year-old Chavan had emerged as the favourite to be the next CM of the important state after he met Congress president Sonia Gandhi in capital this morning.
Chavan, is known for his clean image and is said to be very close to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi.
He is expected to leave for Mumbai today afternoon and will, in all probability, be sworn-in as the next Chief Minister of the important state tomorrow.
