Sony Entertainment Television, which was competing fiercely against Zee at the time, also floundered as it came under the attack from three Star Plus programmes – Bachchan’s show which gave away prize money of Rs 10 million, flanked by the Balaji Telefilms’ produced soaps Kyunki saas bhi kabhie bahu thi and Kahaani ghar ghar ki.
The story from point 1 to point 2 which can normally take not more than 5 minutes for the most elaborate narration take the entire episode running time of 20 minutes to get through. Most of the men in the family, their husbands that is, complain about not getting any food or work done at the time of the serials going on in their house. The styles and clothes of leading serials are soon duplicated in the market and bought by these TV housewives.
Sometimes there is so much negativity and planning and plotting shown in these soaps that the mind of the otherwise free housewives gets poisoned with similar thoughts and leads them to doubt the intentions of most, if not all, of the people or even well-wishers around them
Now with daily soaps ‘reality’ shows are in trends and people like watching these kinds of shows. Shows like ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamwar‘, DID, Nach Baliye, ‘Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jaega’, Indian Idol‘ etc.
The husbands in the house should encourage their wives to get out of the house to do something more challenging and rewarding, which brings the need for husbands to change their outlook.
Men’s don’t change channels when their favorite sport like Cricket matches are coming. They even get angry if their team looses and channel is changed.
